In a recent op-ed for the New York Times, Mr. Ronald S. Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress, wrote about the “barbarous slaughter of thousands upon thousands of Christians” that is met with “relative indifference” by the international community. He is asking: “Why is the world silent while Christians are being slaughtered in the Middle East and Africa?”

“The continued suffering of Christians in the Middle East and Africa due to persecution and violence is unspeakable and heart-breaking,” Dr. Tunnicliffe said. “I’m grateful to Mr. Lauder for speaking up so clearly for Christians in these regions and calling upon the UN, governments and media to not look away and not be silent. When people are facing such injustice and suffering, standing up and raising our voices brings those of different faiths together.”

"We encourage Christians worldwide to continue to ceaselessly pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Iraq and other places," he added.
