On 11 March 2025, the WEA Seoul Organizing Committee Office was officially opened at the Discipleship Ministries International Center in Seoul. This office will serve as the hub for coordination, prayer and collaboration in advance of the WEA’s 2025 General Assembly, to be held in Seoul on 27-31 October.

The Organizing Committee held a plaque ceremony and an opening worship service with WEA Deputy Secretary General Rev. Samuel Chiang and Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Jung Hyun Oh from Sarang Church. This moment represented a pivotal step in the organizing of the General Assembly between the WEA and the Seoul Organizing Committee.

The General Assembly, held once every six years in accordance with the WEA’s constitution, is intended for leaders of churches, nations, regions, networks and commissions all around the world who hold fast the command of Jesus found in Matthew 28:18-20.

Since the mid-20th century, evangelicalism has grown significantly in South Korea. Today this country has the largest Christian populations in East Asia and boasts some of the largest churches in the world. It is a strategic mission force not only in Asia but globally. As it holds the General Assembly in Seoul, the WEA seeks to further reaffirm its commitment to the Great Commission, unity in diversity, and mutual learning from what God is doing around the world, as well as to strategize collectively on challenges facing the church today.

The Seoul Organizing Committee is co-chaired by senior pastor Rev. Dr. Young-hoon Lee from Yoido Full Gospel Church and Rev. Dr. Jung-hyun Oh from Sarang Community Church. WEA’s national alliance, the Korean Evangelical Fellowship, is also a key partner for the GA.

The General Assembly theme, “The Gospel for Everyone by 2033,” expresses the WEA’s prayer to see every person and every nation reached as the world approaches the 2000th anniversary of Christ’s death, resurrection, ascension and Pentecost.  Registrations for the General Assembly will open in April 2025.
