On the 19th February 2026, WEA’s Secretary General, Rev. Adv. Botrus Mansour visited the World Council of Churches’ Ecumenical centre in Geneva alongside Intrafaith Advisor, Dr. Samuel van der Maas. After meeting with WCC General Secretary, prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay, they engaged in a series of in-depth dialogues with WCC staff. Discussions covered a wide range of shared priorities, including governance, communications, unity and mission, ecumenical formation, life and justice, faith and order, international affairs, and peace building in the Middle East. On the 20th of January they visited the Ecumenical Institute Bossey.
“I am thankful for Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay’s invitation to visit the WCC Geneva office, for the warm hospitality, and for the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s work and structure,” said Rev. Mansour. “I deeply value the friendship with Jerry and the cooperation with WCC.”
Pillay likewise affirmed the importance of the relationship, emphasizing the shared calling of both organizations. “It was a great joy to welcome our partners from the World Evangelical Alliance to the Ecumenical Center,” he said. “We value this opportunity to deepen our engagement within the wider ecumenical movement and look forward to strengthening our partnership.”
Representing large portions of the Christian population, the WEA and the WCC remain committed to bearing a credible Christian witness in a world marked by conflict, injustice, and division, and to advancing common efforts in areas such as peacebuilding, defending human rights and care for creation.
