As part of its ongoing governance restructuring, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) has integrated the function of its North American Council (NAC) into the International Council (IC). The change, which comes as part of a year-long structural review, will streamline the governance process for WEA’s fiscal and legal responsibilities in North America.

“We are very grateful for the many years of outstanding and faithful service of our NAC members in looking after the legal entity of WEA’s non-profit in the United States,” said Bp Efraim Tendero, Secretary General of the WEA. “We are thankful for their service in making a valuable contributions to the WEA. It has enabled the WEA to root its work in an organization that will continue under the global leadership of the International Council.”

Starting at its International Leaders Meeting in Germany in February 2017, the WEA has been going through a structural framework review process that explores ways to improve and modernize WEA’s governance and operational relationships on global, regional and national levels. Based on one of the recommendations from this process, the IC has decided to create a Finance & Development Committee that will take over the NAC’s responsibilities of overseeing WEA’s US-registered 501(c)3 non-profit entity in North America.
