The purpose of the WEA Religious Liberty Prayer Release is to keep you informed and mobilized in prayer and intercession for the needs of justice and religious liberty in the Church around the globe, so that we can stand together for the work of the Kingdom and the healing of the Nations. The Prayer Release is comprised on the basis of different credible resources.
Coptic boy, 16, murdered by Islamic extremists seeking to scare Christians in EgyptIt was reported that an Egyptian Christian boy was killed by Islamic extremists on Holy Thursday (13 April) hoping to further intimidate Christians in the run up to Easter.
Allam Bashay Gabriel found his 16-year-old son, Gamal, with his throat slit and lying in a pool of blood, in Qai village, Upper Egypt.
Prayer points:

  • Pray for God’s comforting presence over all those grieving the loss of Gamal Gabriel;
  • Pray that Christians would respond to the killing in a Christlike manner;
  • Pray for God’s protection over all Christians in Upper Egypt.

Islamic State Captures 550 Families to Use as Human Shields in IraqAccording to the U.N Human Rights Office, Islamic State militants have taken 550 families from villages around Mosul and are holding them close to Islamic State (ISIL) locations in the Iraqi city, probably as human shields, the U.N. Human Rights Office said on Friday.
“We are gravely worried by reports that ISIL is using civilians in and around Mosul as human shields as the Iraqi forces advance, keeping civilians close to their offices or places where fighters are located, which may result in civilian casualties,” U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al Hussein said in a statement.
Prayer points:

  • Pray that God would comfort those captured and keep them safe;
  • Pray that the families would be released unharmed;
  • Pray that those responsible for the abduction would be brought to justice;
  • Pray that the perpetrators would experience a change in heart, repent, and turn toward God.

Pastor in India Loses Hearing from Assault by Hindu Extremists

On April 05, A pastor in eastern India’s Bihar state has lost his hearing after Hindu extremists assaulted him outside his home on church premises last month, sources said.

According to a report, doctors at a Hajipur government hospital determined the loss of hearing and wounds on Pastor Sikandar Kumar’s body were a result of being beaten with iron rods and sticks.

Prayer points:

  • Pray that God would completely heal  Pastor Sikhandar Kumar of his condition and give him the strength to carry on ministry;
  • Pray that Christians in the area would stand firm in their faith despite the attacks;
  • Pray that the authorities would take action against the perpetrators;
