Christians Shot to Death in Attack on Marawi, PhilippinesIt was reported that among 19 civilians an Islamic extremist group in the Philippines killed after storming a city on May 23 were eight Christians shot for refusing to recite the Muslim creed.
Government investigators stated that the eight slain Christian laborers had fled Marawi and were on their way to the neighboring city of Iligan when dozens of armed Maute militants stopped them. The Islamist militants tied their hands and shot them after the Christians refused to recite the Muslim conversion creed.
Prayer points:

  • Pray for God’s comforting presence over all those grieving the loss of their loved ones;
  • Pray that Christians would respond to the killings in a Christlike manner;
  • Pray for God’s protection over all Christians in the Philippines;
  • Pray that the authorities will take action against the unjustified killings, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Outlaw Evangelicalism in Malaysia, says Islamic coalitionA coalition of Islamic NGOs has put forward a provocative proposal: ban Christian evangelicalism in Malaysia.
“In Malaysia, the dangerous movement that is evangelicalism must be kept in check as it threatens religious harmony in Malaysia,” said Centre for Human Rights Research and Advocacy (Centhra) CEO Azril Mohd Amin in an essay which was published in a online newspaper.

  • Pray that God would intervene and not let the proposal be implemented in Malaysia;
  • Pray that Christians in Malaysia would stand strong in the faith during these trying times;

Christian Families in India Forced into Hindu Ritual, Denied WaterIt was reported that Villagers in Uttar Pradesh state, India beat Christians, forced them to participate in Hindu rituals and have refused to provide them water.
Four families who were attacked in Jalalabad village, Ghazipur District rely on the water to irrigate their fields, they said.
“The youths were forced by the extremists to consume gangajal and tulsi leaves and deny Christ,” Pushpa Kumari stated. “The village president instigates the mob to attack whoever converts to Christianity.”

  • Pray that God would strengthen and comfort these families that are being persecuted ;
  • Pray that Christians in the area would stand firm in their faith despite the issues they are facing;
  • Pray that the authorities would take necessary actions to provide water to these families;
