Violence against Christians escalates further in SRI LANKA
25 January, Christian persecution in Sri Lanka has intensified during the last couple of months. According to the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL), an all-time high of 103 incidents of persecution were reported in 2013, signifying a 100 percent increase in from 2012.
In a recent incident, on 12 January, a mob led by Buddhist monks, attacked 2 churches in the Southern coastal town of Hikkaduwa. In the attack, the mob, burnt bibles and vandalised church property.
In the month of January alone, 12 incidents of persecution have been reported.

Pray that church leaders in the country would depend on the Holy Spirit to discern appropriate responses to the situation;

Pray that those inciting religious hatred, and persecuting Christians in the country would experience a change in heart, repent, and come to know the saving grace of God.

Church building and 4 Christian homes torched in NEPAL
7 January, According to reports, a church building and 4 Christian homes were torched in Nepal in December 2013.
The attack occurred in the village of Kichet, near the capital, Kathmandu on 23 December 2013.
The church was the first target in the incident followed by the 4 homes of the Christian converts. It is also reported that area residents who tried to stop the attack were beaten up by the group of assailants.
Hindu extremists have been suspected of carrying out the attacks.

Pray that God would enable the Christians in the village to rebuild the church and homes that were damaged in the attack;

Church leader killed in INDIA
14 January, It is reported that a church leader in India was killed by 4 men who pretended of wanting to pray with him.
According to reports, the 4 men came to Rev. Sanjeevulu’s home in Andhra Pradesh on 11 January and requested to pray with him. When Rev. Sanjeevulu stepped out of his house, the attackers stabbed him and beat him with sticks and clubs.
Rev. Sanjeevulu succumbed to his injuries on 13 January 2014.
