The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) was actively involved in advocating for a strong Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) that was negotiated at the United Nations (UN) in July 2012 and March 2013.The WEA commended the UN for passing the ATT on April 2, 2013, and now calls on all UN member states who voted for the ATT to ratify the treaty.

"After approving the ATT, we now call on the governments and especially those of nations who export arms internationally to also take responsibility and implement the treaty in their respective country," says Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe, Secretary General of the WEA. “Now, there is a concrete chance to reduce the flow of illegal arms and the resulting violence and suffering in many parts of the world.”

The animated video below, created by the American Values Network, speaks about the importance of UN member states signing the treaty. The ATT will take effect after 50 member states sign it.
