The World Evangelical Alliance is a global ministry working with local churches around the world to join in common concern to live and proclaim the Good News of Jesus in their communities. God is glorified and the nations of the earth are forever transformed.
The purpose of the WEA Religious Liberty Prayer Release is to keep you informed and mobilized in prayer and intercession for the needs of justice and religious liberty in the Church around the globe, so that we can stand together for the work of the Kingdom and the healing of the Nations. The Prayer Release is comprised on the basis of different credible resources.

7 Egyptian Christians killed execution-style in LIBYA
28 February, The bodies of 7 Egyptian Christians who were working in Libya were found on 23 February on a beach in a suburb east of Benghazi. According to reports, the bodies were found with gunshot wounds to the head, indicating execution-style killings.An area resident and an Egyptian worker told the local police that unknown gunmen had arrived at the Egyptians’ home in Benghazi and dragged them away the night before.
Assassinations and abductions have become common in Libya over the past 18 months. Many of the attacks are thought to be carried out by Islamist extremist groups.
Prayer points:
  • Pray for the families grieving the loss of their loved ones;
  • Pray for God’s protection over all Christians residing in Libya;
  • Pray that the anarchy and violence in Libya will come to an end;
  • Pray that God would grant repentance to those responsible of carrying out this heinous crime.

Surge of Anti-Christian violence in Andhra Pradesh, INDIA
March 4, According to reports, church leaders in India have raised concerns over the dramatic rise in anti-Christian violence in the state of Andhra Pradesh.In a wave of violence, over the past weeks a pastor has been killed, others assaulted and churches demolished.
According to the All India Christian Council, 72 incidents of Christian persecution occurred in Andhra Pradesh in 2013. In 2012 there were 39 incidents.
Prayer points:
  • Pray for God’s protection over all Christians living in Andhra Pradesh;
  • Pray especially, for pastors and Christian workers in Andhra Pradesh, that they would continue to place their trust in the LORD and engage in missions in spite of the present situation;
  • Pray that the LORD would grant repentance to those who are instigating violence against Christians.

Mob led by Buddhist monks assaults pastor in SRI LANKA16 February, A 250-strong mob led by a group of Buddhist monks stormed a pastor’s home in Kandy, Sri Lanka and demanded that worship services conducted by the pastor, be stopped immediately.
The mob then dragged the pastor and his wife and physically assaulted them.
According to reports, the leader of the Buddhist extremist group, Bodu Bala Sena, is believed to have led the attack against the pastor.
Christian persecution has risen dramatically over the past 2 years in Sri Lanka. According to the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka, there were over 100 incidents of Christian persecution in 2013 signifying a 100 percent increase in attacks from 2012.
Prayer points:
  • Pray for the pastor and his wife who were traumatized as a result of the incident;
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit would minister to them during this difficult time;
  • Pray for those persecuting Christians in Sri Lanka, that they would experience a change in heart, repent and turn away from violence.
