“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them,
for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14
The United Nations' (UN) Universal Children's Day, which was established in 1954, is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide. UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, promotes and coordinates this special day, which also works towards improving children's welfare.
There are 2.3 billion children on earth under age 15 and they represent the largest unreached people group in the world.
Boys and girls in the 4/14 Window are given priority because they are more open and receptive to the gospel than older youth and adults. Nearly 85% of people who make a decision for Christ, do so between the ages of 4 to 14!
God is calling us to radically change the way we view children and to respond to their strategic importance and rightful place in His Kingdom. This often ignored and suffering people group can be transformed into a precious window of opportunity. In God's hands, this enormous and largely ignored people group can become agents of transformational mission under the headship of Jesus Christ.
We can start by praying for our own children today!
A DAILY PRAYER FOR YOUR CHILDREN
Father, I pray for my children, that they will grow in the Lord and in the power of God that they will grow and be strong in the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:80; 2:40).
Pour out Your Spirit on our sons and daughters so that they will prophesy and see visions, as You promised (Acts 2:17).
Let our children grow and become strong; filled with wisdom and with the grace of God upon them (Luke 2:40).
Let them grow mentally and spiritually (Luke 2:52).
Make them mighty in the land (Ps. 112:2).
Let my children grow in favour with You and man so that they will do Your work (Luke 2:40, 52).
Guide them to speak Your Word with great boldness.
Stretch out Your hand, Lord, to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of our Lord Jesus (Acts 4:29-30) and may the Holy Spirit also testify with signs, wonders and various miracles, and may the gifts of the Holy Spirit be distributed to them according to Your will (Heb. 2:4).
In Jesus’ Name
Amen.
